RED JUNGLE FOWL This is what i use instead on guineas - much less racket - and very pretty. These will keep the fleas and ticks down. Mine stay close to home and either roost in the barn during the winter or trees the rest of the year.
As they age the tail feathers curl over and almost touch the ground. The mothers are very protective and i have seen them fight a hawk over the babies. They lay lots of small to medium tan colored eggs and are excellent sitters.
These free range here eating every bug or anything resembling a bug they can find. I have seen them catch mice and small snakes.
